Abstract:
To correct any discrepancies between the system identifiers captured in a Most Recently Used (MRU) list and those in the latest system preference list (e. g. Preferred Roaming List (PRL) or Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) list), a mobile device will periodically check a system selection that utilized the MRU list against the carrier's system preference list and when necessary initiate a new scan to select a system based on the current preference list. The device then updates system identification in the MRU list, based on the new system selection obtained in accordance with the preference list.

Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for systematically evaluating accuracy of data in a home location register, independent of call processing and in the absence of interference with resources required for call processing at the home location register. The method includes operational steps of: identifying, from among a plurality of subscribers, a subscriber serviced by a visited location register and identifying the visited location register servicing the identified subscriber. The method also includes forwarding a message to the identified visited location register to determine if there is a corresponding record for the identified subscriber, and determining, based on a reply to the forwarded message or lack thereof, the accuracy of home location register's record for the identified subscriber.

Abstract:
Systems, methods, and an article of manufacture for forwarding messaging service messages within a mobile communications network are shown and described. In some instances, upon receipt of a messaging service message a network element responds with a different destination for the received message and a command to resolve the location of the different destination. The resolution may occur by a network element that is different from the receiving network element.

In an idle state transition from a macro mobile network to a femtocell, a mobile station looks for the femtocell to operate in a frequency band typically assigned to a macro network. For normal macro network operations, mobile stations look for base stations operating on various channels, e. g. based on hashing of respective mobile station identifiers. Femtocells generate a pilot beacon on a carrier frequency to enable mobile station acquisition, e. g. to redirect a mobile station to the operating frequency of the femtocell. To avoid the need to continually cycle or hop through all possible macro assigned carrier frequencies, pilot beacon transmissions of a particular femtocell are prioritized to correspond to the mobile station(s) expected to utilize that femtocell, e. g. by using existing network information, provisioning device information or self learning/calculating information regarding the carrier most likely to be used by any particular mobile station expected to use the femtocell.

Abstract:
A method of receiving, by a mobile switching center (MSC), a first call associated with an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) network. The method determines whether an origination request return result (ORREQ rr) message, associated with the first received call, was previously received by the MSC. Based on the determination that the ORREQ rr was previously received, the method generates a session initiation protocol (SIP) invite message and sends the SIP invite message from the MSC.
