  • Chain Saw Cutting Assembly

  • US Patent:
    50781197, Jan 7, 1992
  • Filed:
    Nov 6, 1990
  • Appl. No.:
    7/609688
  • Inventors:
William K. Holmes - Simi Valley CA
Albert E. Joneikis - Long Beach CA
  • Assignee:
Cushion Cut, Inc. - Torrance CA
  • International Classification:
    B28D 104
  • US Classification:
    125 1301
  • Abstract:
A chain saw cutting device and method for flush and square cutting walls and other flat concrete surfaces is disclosed. The chain saw cutting device is typically used in conjunction with a track-mounted circular saw cutting assembly, each being removably mounted either on a trolley which rides on, or directly to a track structure, which track structure is attached to the surface to be cut. The chain saw cutting device has an elongated bar and cutting chain which when mounted are positioned in the same cutting line made by the circular saw assembly. The carriage structure of the chain saw cutting device includes a reversible cutting drive and extends on only one side of a cutting plane containing the chain bar and cutting chain. Hence, the chain saw cutting device permits square cutting along the cutting line as well as flush cutting with respect to a perpendicular side wall, ceiling or floor. Removable chain guard extensions are attachable to protect the user during operation except in the flush and square cutting mode as necessary.

  • US Patent:
    47876786, Nov 29, 1988
  • Filed:
    Jan 25, 1988
  • Appl. No.:
    7/147844
  • Inventors:
William K. Holmes - Simi Valley CA
Albert E. Joneikis - Long Beach CA
  • Assignee:
Cushion Cut, Inc. - Torrance CA
  • International Classification:
    F16C 3512
    B28D 104
  • US Classification:
    299 39
  • Abstract:
A rigid arm supports the outboard end of a shaft of a power driven apparatus to minimize transverse deflection of the shaft under load. The arm extends through a loop formed by a flexible drive member and permits replacement of the drive member without removal of the arm. In a preferred embodiment, the arm is a cantilevered arm of substantially rectangular cross section which is bolted or otherwise secured to the apparatus and has a bearing at its outer end which engages the output shaft.

  • US Patent:
    55884180, Dec 31, 1996
  • Filed:
    Jan 26, 1995
  • Appl. No.:
    8/390306
  • Inventors:
William K. Holmes - Simi Valley CA
Albert E. Joneikis - Long Beach CA

  • Assignee:
Boart Longyear Company - Salt Lake City UT
  • International Classification:
    B28D 104
  • US Classification:
    125 1301
  • Abstract:
A wall saw for cutting concrete or similar materials includes a track, mounting brackets to affix the track to a wall, and a movable saw carriage. The saw carriage is mounted to the track by a guide mechanism, which may include a plurality of rollers, mounted to the carriage for pivotal movement between an engaged position, in guiding contact with the track, and a retracted position, out of contact with the track, by movement of a carrying handle of the carriage. In one embodiment, the rollers are mounted for pivotal camming motion and are retracted sufficiently in their retracted positions to permit mounting and dismounting of the carriage relative to the track by movement of the carriage perpendicular to the wall.
