  • Filed:
    Jan 30, 2002
  • Appl. No.:
    10/060651
  • Inventors:
Meera Sampath - Penfield NY, US
Ronald M. Rockwell - Rochester NY, US
    D. Rene Rasmussen - Pittsford NY, US
Ashok V. Godambe - Pittsford NY, US
Eric Jackson - Penfield NY, US
Raj Minhas - Webster NY, US
  • Assignee:
    Xerox Corporation - Stamford CT
  • International Classification:
    G03G015/00
  • US Classification:
    399 15, 382112
  • Abstract:
Using a system of computer modules operatively associated with a document processing machine, banding defect analysis is accomplished by analyzing specific test patterns via image processing. The banding defects are characterized in terms of quantitative parameters based on an analysis of the banding defect. Key features are extracted from the banding defect parameters. The key features are analyzed in a diagnostic engine, to determine the possible source of the defect. The identified source is correlated to a recommended repair service procedure. The diagnostic process may be augmented by also including machine data in the analysis.
  • Systems And Methods For Detecting Impending Faults Within Closed-Loop Control Systems

    view source
  • US Patent:
    6996442, Feb 7, 2006
  • Filed:
    Jan 15, 2003
  • Appl. No.:
    10/342266
  • Inventors:
Debbie S. Wickham - Victor NY, US
Mark A. Scheuer - Williamson NY, US
Charles P. Coleman - Brighton NY, US
Ashok V. Godambe - Pittsford NY, US
  • Assignee:
    Xerox Corporation - Stamford CT
  • International Classification:
    G05B 9/02
  • US Classification:
    700 80, 399 49, 399 53, 358 19, 358520, 430120
  • Abstract:
An impending fault of a component operated within a closed-loop control system can be detected. The close-loop control system is disabled. An actuator of the closed-loop control system is operated at one or more test values. A sensor reading of the actuator is taken while that actuator is operated at the one or more test values. A warning is generated if an impending fault condition is detected. An impending fault condition may be detected if the component operates at a value exceeding a maximum defined operating value, if the component operates at a value below a minimum defined operating value, or if an operating range that is narrower than a defined full operating range for the component is detected.
  • Printshop Resource Optimization Via The Use Of Autonomous Cells

    view source
  • US Patent:
    7079266, Jul 18, 2006
  • Filed:
    Nov 3, 2000
  • Appl. No.:
    09/706430
  • Inventors:
Sudhendu Rai - Fairport NY, US
Ashok V. Godambe - Pittsford NY, US
Charles B. Duke - Webster NY, US
Guy H. Williams - Webster NY, US
  • Assignee:
    Xerox Corporation - Stamford CT
  • International Classification:
    G06F 15/00
    G06K 1/00
  • US Classification:
    358 113, 358 19, 358 115, 705 8
  • Abstract:
A printshop contains resources that are utilized to complete print jobs. The resources are partitioned into autonomous cells. Each autonomous cell is capable of completing at least one class of print job. Print jobs are assigned to the autonomous cells for completion. An autonomous cell may subdivide a print job into smaller sized lots and process the smaller size lots in parallel. This approach enhances the efficiency of the shop, decreases the work in progress, labor and inventory costs associated with running the print jobs and increases the utilization of the printing equipment in the printshop.
  • Systems And Methods For A Hybrid Diagnostic Approach Of Real Time Diagnosis Of Electronic Systems

    view source
  • US Patent:
    6519552, Feb 11, 2003
  • Filed:
    Mar 10, 2000
  • Appl. No.:
    09/522082
  • Inventors:
    Meera Sampath - Penfield NY
    Ashok Godambe - Pittsford NY
    Eric Jackson - Penfield NY
Edward W. Mallow - Henrietta NY
  • Assignee:
    Xerox Corporation - Stamford CT
  • International Classification:
    G06F 1130
  • US Classification:
    702183, 702185
  • Abstract:
Through a combination of a hybrid diagnostic scheme based on qualitative and quantitative technologies, at least component level status information can be obtained about a machine, such as an electronic device. In particular, qualitative model based diagnostic technologies is used in conjunction with quantitative analysis techniques and signature analysis to achieve accurate and reliable diagnosis of components and systems down to the individual component level, for example, down to the consumer replaceable unit level. Thus, the hybrid diagnostic methodology exploits the diagnostic information content in already available system signals via intelligent processing and allows for diagnosis with minimal sensor requirements. Furthermore, the diagnostic methodology allows for a self-diagnosing machine having diagnostic intelligence which in turn can reduce service time, service costs, increased machine up time and improve customer satisfaction.
