Abstract:
A light attachment that can be readily mounted on a variety of tools and tool support fixtures and other support structures includes a light portion supported on a mounting portion by a flexible gooseneck cable. The mounting portion includes a housing that defines a male-female attachment element configured to slidingly mate with a complementary attachment element formed on the body of the power tool. In a preferred embodiment, the attachment element has a dovetail shape for sliding engagement within a complementary shaped notch in the body of the tool. The housing contains a power source for the light portion. The light portion incorporates an on-off switch that is actuated by rotating a component that is threadedly engaged within the housing. The housing supports a printed circuit board to which the power supply wires are attached. The circuit board also carries a spring contact switch element that completes an electrical circuit to energize the light portion when the spring contact is pressed against the circuit board.
System For Attaching Accessories To A Rotary Hand Tool
A system for attaching an accessory attachment to a rotary hand tool of the type having a body with a generally cylindrical nose end portion through which an output shaft passes. The preferred embodiment of the system has an attachment that has an attaching end which matingly engages the nose end portion of the hand tool, and includes a rotatable coupling with inner threads that engage outer threads on the nose portion. The nose portion of the hand tool also has at least one recess which is configured to receive at least one projection on the attachment which accurately angularly positions the attachment on the hand tool. The preferred embodiment has at least one complementary tapered recess and projection combination which facilitates easy insertion of the projection into the recess during attaching.
Planing/Chamfering Attachment For A Rotary Hand Tool
A planing attachment for a rotary hand tool of the type having a generally cylindrical body with an output shaft at a nose end thereof to which a cutting bit can be attached, the attachment being configured at an attaching end to matingly engage the nose end of the hand tool. The attachment includes a housing having an attaching end portion and a planing tool end portion, wherein the attaching end portion is configured to matingly engage the nose end of the rotary hand tool, and a leading plane and a trailing plane are configured wherein one of the planes is disposed on opposite sides of the cutting bit, and wherein the leading plane is elevated relative to the trailing plane by a distance proportional to the depth of cut made by the cutting bit. The attachment further includes a longitudinal cavity disposed between the leading plane and the trailing plane and is configured to receive the cutting bit therein, a cutting bit support disposed at the planing tool end portion of the attachment.
A support fixture for a hand-held power tool includes a base plate and a guide plate assembly supported for movement relative to the base plate to bring the working end of the power tool into contact with a workpiece on which the base plate is supported. The guide plate assembly includes a tool support housing configured for supporting the body of the power tool, and an overthrow nut assembly for threaded engagement with a threaded portion of the power tool adjacent the working end of the tool. The fixture includes a guide bushing that is top-loaded into a bushing collar defined in the base plate, in which the guide bushing is configured to engage a template supported on the workpiece. A threaded plug holds the guide bushing within the bushing collar.

Abstract:
A power tool having a handle includes a first member configured to selectively engage a housing of a power tool and a second member provided adjacent the first member and movable between a first position and a second position. A portion of the second member restricts movement of the first member when the second member is in the first position and the portion of the second member does not restrict movement of the first member when the second member is in the second position such that the first member may be moved to disengage the power tool housing.
