Canadian teammates Robert Wickens and James Hinchcliffe thrilled the hometown fans, as the Schmidt Peterson Motorsports drivers finished third and fourth, respectively. The second caution came out on Lap 12 when Charlie Kimball and Ed Jones made contact that sent Kimball spinning into the wall, ending his day. UPDATE 2: INDYCAR Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama once again under red-flag race stoppage
Cleaners and dryers are on the track to try and get some of the water off the racing surface. The low spots on the track, as well as the front stretch, have been particularly troublesome and led to several spinouts and at least two wrecks (Charlie Kimball and outside front pole sitter Will Power).

The full-course caution flew on Lap 12 for Charlie Kimball spinning on the exit of Turn 16 with help from Ed Jones Ganassi car getting into the tire wall at 17, and then coming to a halt on track at Turn 6.

The Honda teams had a clear horsepower advantage over Chevrolet, but things were dicey in Indy for more than a week and certainly on race day: Before Alonsos failure, 2014 winner Ryan Hunter-Reay lost his Honda and so did Charlie Kimball. Hunter-Reay led 28 laps and was a strong contender late.
