Abstract:
A head assembly for a pulverized coal nozzle includes a turning vane or a curved vane disposed within a pipe elbow. The vanes are angled relative to the inlet port and the outlet port of the pipe elbow to redirect a stream of air and pulverized solid fuel particles from the inlet port toward the outlet port The coal rope-breaking vane is pivotable about an axis to adjust an angle of the vanes relative to a stream of air and pulverized solid fuel particles from the inlet port An adjustment bar may connect to the vanes and extend outward through the pipe elbow to allow the vanes to be adjusted while the pulverized solid fuel particles flow through the head assembly The pipe elbow may further include inspection ports and a removable cover The vanes may be attached to the removable cover thus allowing them to be easily removed and replaced.

Abstract:
A head assembly for a pulverized coal nozzle includes removeable wear-resistant inserts having vanes . The vanes may be flat or curved to direct a stream of air and pulverized solid fuel particles from the inlet port toward the outlet port . The curved vanes curve in two dimensions to evenly distribute the stream of air and pulverized solid fuel away from the outer surfaces reducing wear and corrosion. The pipe elbow has a removable cover that allows for easy access. The vanes are attached to a wear-resistant replaceable liner thus allowing them to be easily removed and replaced. The wear-resistant liner may be made from several parts for ease of removal and replacement.

Abstract:
A system for sealing a port of a pulverizer. A pulverizer has journal assembly and a port for receiving the journal assembly. At least a portion of the journal assembly extends through the port. The system further includes a seal having a first end and a second end. The seal includes a first opening at or near the first end and a second opening at or near the second end. A bore extends between the first opening and the second opening. One of the first end and the second end is coupled to the pulverizer and the other one of the first end and the second end is coupled to the journal assembly. The seal inhibits fluid communication through the port.

Abstract:
A classifier [] is disclosed that employs adjustable vanes [] that may be interactively adjusted to change the distribution of fuel particle sizes that are passed on to a furnace. The classifier employs a frame [] having a plurality of windows [] each having an adjustable vane []. A control ring [] is rotated with respect to the frameto simultaneously move links [] connected between the control ring [] and the vanes []. This causes the vanes [] to open or close, changing the air flow path and changing the size distribution of particles passing through the classifier [] to the furnace. The system may include an adjustment system [] that can automatically sense particle size to optimize several physical parameters related to particle size.

Abstract:
A wear plate assembly includes a body portion and an abutment flange extending from a radially outer circumferential edge of the body portion and substantially normal thereto. The abutment flange is cooperatively configured with respect to another abutment flange of a respective adjacent wear plate that interengages with the wear plate such that a convoluted edge of the another abutment flange of the respective adjacent wear plate intermeshes with a respective convoluted edge of the abutment flange of the wear plate. At least one polygonal recess and a corresponding abutment ramp are substantially aligned therewith at a same latitude on the body portion, the recess further includes a through hole extending through the wear plate. A first clip configured is partially received in the polygonal recess, the clip having a plurality of exposed impact surface faces.

Abstract:
A gas outlet monitoring system for a boiler system includes a gas probe(s) with a plurality of gas sensing locations wherein each location measures a plurality of parameters of the gas flow, such a oxygen concentration and temperature. The multi-sensor probe includes a tubular lance and a plurality of sensor pods spaced along the lance. Each sensor pod has an oxygen sensor disposed in a first port, and a first temperature sensor disposed in a second port. An enclosure is disposed at one end of the tubular lance. The enclosure has a respective pressure sensor for each oxygen sensor port. A plurality of first tubes passes through the lance between the enclosure and the first port of a respective sensor pod to provide a gas to the respective first port for the purpose of providing cleaning air. A plurality of second tubes passes through the lance between the enclosure and the first port of a respective sensor pod to provide fluid communication between gas in the respective first port and the respective pressure sensor. One pressure sensor is provided for each oxygen sensor.

Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a scanning device for performing ultrasonic nondestructive testing of a tube, comprising a housing; the housing having bottom surface that is concavely curved with cavities to accommodate a waveguide assembly and an encoder assembly; where the waveguide assembly comprises a waveguide and a probe that are in communication with one another; the waveguide having at least one surface that is contoured to match an outer surface of the tube; where the waveguide facilitates the transmission of ultrasonic signals into the tube generated by the probe; and where the encoder assembly comprises a spring loaded wheel that contacts the tube; and where the encoder assembly provides a signal indicative of a location of the probe relative to a position on the tube as the scanning device is moved in a direction of a longitudinal axis of the tube.
