A switch mechanism for an electrical slide switch that has a detenting or clicking action is disclosed. The switch mechanism provides such detenting action in a mechanism that has a switch lever that moves through an arcuate path of movement and provides a uniform resistance to movement through the entire range of movement of the switch lever.

Abstract:
A right angle attachment configured to be attached to a small electrically powered rotary hand tool of the type that is used in woodworking, hobby work and other work. Being small, lightweight, relatively vibration free and quiet in operation, the attachment is easily attached to a hand tool in a very short amount of time without the use of any special tools. The attachment has a flexible input shaft and an output shaft that are oriented at an angular orientation, such as approximately 90 degrees relative to one another so that the flexible shaft compensates for misalignment between the input shaft and the output shaft of the tool. In operation, the attachment is easily attached to the hand tool by merely removing the chuck that is a part of the original hand tool and attaching the chuck to the attachment output shaft, threadably engaging a driver nut on the rotary tool output shaft, engaging a mounting coupling assembly onto a threaded end of the rotary tool case, and fitting the attachment to the hand tool by merely sliding it into engagement and tightening the coupling assembly by hand.

Abstract:
A sharpening attachment for a powered rotary hand tool of the type which has an output shaft with a tool bit holder that extends from a housing is disclosed. The sharpening attachment is mounted on the housing and comprises a body portion with an interior opening through which a sharpening bit held by the tool bit holder can pass, with the sharpening bit being exposed for engaging a surface of a tool. The attachment has a jaw portion attached to the body portion which extends forwardly thereof and also has a support surface for holding the tool member at a predetermined angle relative to the sharpening bit, and an extension attached to the body portion and extending forwardly thereof at least to a point that includes a major portion of the exposed portion of the sharpening bit for the purpose of providing a protective guard.

Abstract:
A light attachment that can be readily mounted on a variety of tools and tool support fixtures and other support structures includes a light portion supported on a mounting portion by a flexible gooseneck cable. The mounting portion includes a housing that defines a male-female attachment element configured to slidingly mate with a complementary attachment element formed on the body of the power tool. In a preferred embodiment, the attachment element has a dovetail shape for sliding engagement within a complementary shaped notch in the body of the tool. The housing contains a power source for the light portion. The light portion incorporates an on-off switch that is actuated by rotating a component that is threadedly engaged within the housing. The housing supports a printed circuit board to which the power supply wires are attached. The circuit board also carries a spring contact switch element that completes an electrical circuit to energize the light portion when the spring contact is pressed against the circuit board.

Abstract:
A preferred embodiment of a rotary tool reciprocating motion conversion attachment for a rotary power hand tool is described which is configured to be attached to a nose portion of the hand tool housing. The attachment has a rotary drive train in a housing that is connectable to the output shaft of the hand tool, the drive train driving a barrel cam having an exterior cam groove. A cam follower rides in the cam groove and produces reciprocating motion, with the cam follower being part of a cam follower assembly to which an implement holder is attached. The preferred embodiment has a cam groove configuration which causes the implement holder to move slower during a cutting stroke and faster during a return stroke, thereby tending to optimize the operation of the cutting implement. The preferred embodiment also includes a planetary gear set for reducing the rotational speed of the hand tool output shaft to reduce the speed of reciprocation of the attachment.

Abstract:
An assembly is provided that may be supported on or above a variety of work surfaces and that is adapted to support a workpiece or a tool in a wide range of orientations. The assembly comprises a vise apparatus including (i) a first clamping component, (ii) a second clamping component, and (iii) a slide bar possessing a polygonal-shaped outer surface, the slide bar being at least partially interposed between the first clamping component and the second clamping component. The assembly further includes a first mounting apparatus including (i) a first clamping device configured to engage the polygonal-shaped outer surface of the slide bar so as to releasably hold the slide bar in fixed relation to the first clamping device, and (ii) a first attachment mechanism configured to removably secure the first mounting apparatus to a first support, the first attachment mechanism possessing a first configuration. Moreover, the assembly includes a second mounting apparatus including (i) a second clamping device configured to engage the polygonal-shaped outer surface of the slide bar so as to releasably hold the slide bar in fixed relation to the second clamping device, and (ii) a second attachment mechanism configured to removably secure the second mounting apparatus to a second support, the second attachment mechanism possessing a second configuration which is different from the first configuration.

Abstract:
A brush system for an electric motor is adapted to electrically connect a commutator with at least one field terminal of the motor. The system is provided in a housing of the motor and is accessible via an opening in the housing. In this system, at least one electrically conductive brush is held in contact with the commutator by an electrically conductive brush box, which has an electrically conductive connecting tab depending therefrom. The connecting tab is adapted to be connected to the field terminal. Also included is a frame which is configured and adapted to fixedly receive the brush box. A through hole is provided on the frame for allowing the connector tab to extend through the frame and connect to the field terminal. Further, an access door is configured and adapted to be latched to the opening in the housing by a latch device attached to the access door. A spring mechanism is also attached to the access door for exerting a force on the brush so that the brush maintains contact with the commutator when the access door is latched to the opening.
