    An armrest arrangement and a method of installing the armrest arrangement in a vehicle are provided, where the armrest arrangement can be arranged on a center console in a row of seats of the vehicle. The armrest arrangement includes upper and lower armrest units, each of the upper and lower armrest units being movable between a use position and a stowed position. When both the upper and lower armrest units are in the stowed position, the center console is usable as a middle seat. The upper and lower armrest units include armrests positioned at different heights to accommodate occupants of different heights, and the upper armrest unit is supported by the lower armrest unit, which is supported by a seat.

    A head restraint includes a head restraint post having at least a pair of leg portions, a cross member interconnecting the leg portions, and a rigid support member connected to the cross member of the post without retaining the leg portions, where the rigid support member does not rotate about the cross member. By virtue of the rigid support member being connected to the cross member without retaining the leg portions, the leg portions are provided with sufficient flexibility for easy assembly with a seat back and smooth height adjustment. A compressible pad further can be arranged over the post and rigid support member to complete manufacture of the head restraint. The leg portions of the head restraint are configured to be received in at least one of a seat back, an interface in the seat back, or another part of a motor vehicle.

    A retractable automotive seat assembly having a seat back and a seat cushion. The seat assembly is moveable within an interior of a passenger vehicle between an operative position for supporting an occupant and a stowed position with the seat back stored against a headliner of the vehicle and the seat cushion recessed within a floor of the vehicle. The seat back is pivotally mounted to the headliner of the vehicle. A pair of upper retaining latches are mounted to a side wall of the vehicle for securing the seat back in a roof storing position disposed above the seat cushion and adjacent the headliner. A pair of lower retaining latches are mounted to the side wall of the vehicle below the upper retaining latches for securing the seat back in a seat back operative position abutting at least a portion of the seat cushion. A pair of seat cushion brackets are mounted to the seat cushion for supporting and pivoting the seat cushion independently from the seat back between a seat cushion operative position and a floor storing position with the seat cushion pivoting downwardly into a cavity recessed within the floor of the vehicle. The seat cushion also includes a pair of seat cushion retaining latches for securing the seat cushion in the seat cushion operative position.

    A vehicle seat assembly includes a seat cushion assembly having a seat cushion frame structure. The seat cushion assembly is constructed and arranged to be mounted within the motor vehicle in an operative position wherein an occupant can be seated thereon. A seat back assembly having a lightweight seat back frame structure is constructed and arranged to be mounted within the motor vehicle in an operative position to support the back of an occupant seated on the seat cushion assembly. The seat back frame structure is associated with the seat cushion frame structure to form a cushion associated seat frame structure to be connected with and extend between the side walls of the motor vehicle when the seat cushion assembly and seat back assembly are in the operative positions. The cushion associated frame structure is constructed and arranged so that force applied thereto by an occupant during conditions of sudden acceleration or deceleration are resisted by the seat cushion assembly and seat back assembly by virtue of the connection thereof with the side wall of the motor vehicle.
