Abstract:
The present invention provides a novel, optionally surfactant-free process for controlling particle number, particle size, and/or particle size distribution. The method of the invention also significantly improves monomer to polymer conversion rates, as well as, increases the level of polymer solids which can be emulsified/dispersed in water without polymer flocculation. Specifically, the improved process provides an aqueous dispersion of up to about 48% polymer solids in water in the absence of surfactant. The resulting fluoropolymers dispersions may be used in resin and coating applications.

Security films that are useful for pharmaceutical packaging. In particular, anti-counterfeiting security films having a luminescent composition on or in a fluoropolymer layer, which luminescent composition luminesces upon the application of ultraviolet radiation in the 200 nm to 300 nm range, in which the luminescent component is optionally and preferably not viewable to the unaided eye. The films are particularly useful for the formation of anti-counterfeiting blister packaging in compliance with FDA regulations.

A polyvinylidene difluoride copolymer with a fluoroolefin selected from 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene, 1,1,3,3,3-pentafluoropropene, 2-chloro-pentafluoropropene, hexafluoropropylene, trifluoroethylene, chlorotrifluoroethylene, 3,3,3-trifluoro-2-trifluoromethylpropene and a mixture thereof, wherein the stoichiometry of the co-monomers defines the barrier properties of the copolymer. Such polymers include moisture barrier copolymers and oxygen barrier copolymer. Processes for preparing such moisture barrier copolymers and oxygen barrier copolymers are also provided.

Abstract:
Molded articles which include at least one layer of a fluoropolymer and at least one layer of a thermoplastic polymer. More particularly, molded bottles having a layer of a fluoropolymer attached to a layer of a polyethylene via an intermediate adhesive tie layer. The molded articles are preferably formed such that the fluoropolymer layer is either the innermost layer or central layer of the multilayered structure. The adhesives that are employed are useful in adhering layers of dissimilar polymeric materials that are otherwise incompatible and achieve a significantly improved interlayer bond strength between a fluoropolymer layer and a thermoplastic polymer layer.

Abstract:
Multilayer sheets and films are provided that include a layer of a polyolefin material and a layer of a thermoplastic polymer material. More particularly, multilayered structures are provided in which a layer of a polypropylene is attached to a layer of a cyclic olefin copolymer material. The adhesive material used to adhere said layers achieves a significantly improved interlayer bond strength as compared to the art.

Abstract:
Heat sealable fluoropolymer-containing films and articles. More particularly, heat sealable films, tubes, packages, and other articles formed from a chlorotrifluoroethylene/vinylidene fluoride copolymer containing about 5% to about 25% vinylidene fluoride. The copolymers are capable of being formed into single or multilayer films that are heat sealable using conventional heat sealing methods while maintaining excellent clarity and moisture barrier properties.
