Abstract:

A treadmill having one or more air springs attached to the underside of the treadmill and one or more wheels on the underside of the treadmill near the back end of the treadmill, to provide increased shock-absorption over conventional treadmills. Other embodiments disclosed herein include treadmills with the above-discussed components as well as one or more air compressors, pressure sensors, and/or weight sensors for adjusting the level of pressure in the one or more air springs, based on the weight of a person using such a treadmill.

An apparatus and method for clean, efficient removal of water and odor from a sprinkler systems including a vessel, a pump which creates a reduced pressure in the vessel, and a connector for attaching the device to the sprinkler system to remove trapped water. The vacuum pump is powered by a power source, and the reduced pressure created by vacuum pump is controlled by a regulator such that the vacuum pressure is maintained and does not cause damage to the gaskets in the sprinkler system.

Abstract:

A method and system for creating a vacuum in a dry sprinkler system to evacuate water when the sprinkler system is inactive and to assist in the quick dispersion of water through the sprinkler system when a fire event occurs are disclosed. A vacuum apparatus establishes a vacuum that is within the design pressure capability of sprinkler drops in the sprinkler system. A pressure regulator monitors the pressure and automatically activates the vacuum apparatus when a vacuum loss is detected. A valve is activated when a fire event occurs so that water is drawn through the sprinkler system quickly.

Abstract:

A method and system for controlling bacteria growth in a sprinkler system includes operating a sprinkler network in a normally substantially dry condition, and applying a vacuum apparatus to evacuate air from the network to create a negative air pressure within the network, so that bacteria growth within the network is inhibited. The vacuum is automatically re-applied to the network if the negative air pressure is lost.
