    Nov 11, 1976
  • Appl. No.:
    5/741159
  • Inventors:
Harlan J. Easton - Blooming Prairie MN
  • International Classification:
    B01F 704
  • US Classification:
    366192
  • Abstract:
A container, having generally vertical end and sidewalls and a semi-cylindrical bottom portion, defines a discharge opening in the bottom portion that is normally closed by an underlying plate-like closure member. Toggle linkage and a closure member engaging cam operate to press the closure member against the bottom portion so as to make sealing contact between the container and the closure member. A feed mixing agitator rotates within the container and includes mixing vanes adjustably mounted on the outer ends of arms extending radially from a rotary shaft journaled in bearings in the end walls of the container.
  • Feeding Mechanism For Granular Material

  • US Patent:
    40661644, Jan 3, 1978
  • Filed:
    Dec 19, 1975
  • Appl. No.:
    5/642578
  • Inventors:
Harlan J. Easton - Blooming Prairie MN
  • International Classification:
    B65G 4718
  • US Classification:
    198616
  • Abstract:
Apparatus for discharging granular material from a bulk container tapering at its bottom, including a conveyor and a discharge chamber at the bottom of the bulk container. The discharge chamber includes an impeller rotated by a vertical shaft extending through the bottom of the chamber, and a traveler shaft connected at one end to the vertical shaft, by a coil spring knuckle-joint, and carrying at its other end a contactor which rides on the inner surface of the tapering bottom, the shaft being provided with projecting cross pins to move in the material and break up agglomerations and bridges. Power means are provided for driving the vertical shaft and the conveyor, either separately or serially, and the opening between the chamber and the conveyor is adjustable to vary the flow of material. The conveyor comprises a plurality of flights secured to an endless cable, which moves for at least a part of its travel through a tube leading from the discharge chamber to an area of discharge for the material.

  • Linear Indexing Programmer For Cyclic Operations

    view source
  • US Patent:
    41969499, Apr 8, 1980
  • Filed:
    Nov 13, 1978
  • Appl. No.:
    5/959730
  • Inventors:
Harlan J. Easton - Blooming Prairie MN
  • International Classification:
    A47B 6300
  • US Classification:
    312183
  • Abstract:
A linear indexing programming for cyclic operations, for example the programming of the cycle of care and feeding of a hog operation, which has the program steps represented adjacent to one side of an open topped receptacle in which cards representing the subjects of the program are stored. The cards are separated into desired periods such as weeks within desired compartments. Each of the divider compartments holds the cards for a week of operation in a daily sequence. The divider compartments are moved from the start toward the program end daily in sequence so that the cards for the individual subjects progress through the cycle of operation and from one end of the linear movable card file to the other. The indexed or programmed functions to be performed thus align sequentially with the cards as they are moved. Specifically as shown, the daily movement may be gauged by the use of spacers which are equal to one day on the program.

  • US Patent:
    40334660, Jul 5, 1977
  • Filed:
    Jul 12, 1976
  • Appl. No.:
    5/704126
  • Inventors:
Harlan J. Easton - Blooming Prairie MN
  • International Classification:
    B65G 6532
  • US Classification:
    214 17CB
  • Abstract:
A grain distributing auger and leveling member in a grain drying and storage bin having a grain supporting surface underlying the auger and leveling member. A conduit feeds granular material to one end of the auger and a motor and power transmission mechanism imparts material distributing rotation to the auger and pivotal movement to the auger and leveling member about a pivotal support therefor. The leveling member is disposed generally parallel to the auger and in trailing relationship thereto during said pivotal movement, the leveling member being vertically adjustable at least at one end thereof relative to the auger.

  • Combine Reel Anti-Wrapping Protector

    view source
  • US Patent:
    44729286, Sep 25, 1984
  • Filed:
    Sep 30, 1982
  • Appl. No.:
    6/432020
  • Inventors:
Harlan J. Easton - Blooming Prairie MN
  • International Classification:
    A01D 5702
  • US Classification:
    56220
  • Abstract:
An anti-wrapping protector for spring fingers on a reel for combines and other harvesting equipment and in particular for use on the type of combine reel generally known as the "Hume" reel. The Hume reel includes mechanisms to keep provided spring teeth or tines on the reel always pointed substantially vertically downward from their support pipe. In combining (harvesting) soy beans and other crops that tend to cling and wrap around anything that moves, as well as cutting hay with windrowers, it has been found that coils in the springs in the well known "Hume" reel as well as the pipes and tine support bats themselves cause wrapping. This requires stopping to clean the material out and great time delays are encountered. The present device is a unitary, molded plastic tubular member that has a slit so the tube can be slipped over the support pipe, bat, and coil of the reel spring tooth and then secured in position to protect the parts from wrapping. The tubular member is rectangular in shape, as shown, and one side of the rectangle extends downwardly to form a leg of desired length to protect the shield and the tine part of the reel springs as well.
