Abstract:
An enhancer for improving the clarity and resolution of magnetic resonance images of anatomical regions having limited or excess fat content, which consists of layer of plasticized polyvinyl chloride having a thickness of 0.5 cm to 4 cm. In use, said layer may take a variety of forms so long as the layer is placed in between the body of the patient being examined and the receiving coils of the magnetic resonance imaging system.

Abstract:
The present invention is a face mask for use with registration of a patient's anatomy through medical imaging for image-guided surgical procedures. The mask includes a nasal bridge mount, medial orbital mounts and at least one side member which extends from the sides of the mask toward the patient's ears when in use. In a preferred embodiment, the face mask includes two side members which extend along the patient's head and behind the ears, similar to a pair of eyeglasses. The mask may also include a strap or other means for maintaining the mask upon the patient's head. The mask may be used to retain and position fiducial markers or attachment of medical or surgical instruments, such as tracking devices, for use during image-guided surgical procedures.

Abstract:
An insertable enhancer for improving the clarity and resolution of magnetic resonance images, which is constructed from plasticized polyvinyl chloride. The enhancer is adapted for placement into orifices or canals of the body, such as the ear canal, nasal passages, G.I tract or other cavities.
Radiation therapy skin markers used to delineate radiation therapy portal areas of a patient to be treated with radiation are described. The radiation therapy skin marker includes comprises a substrate having a first surface and a second surface. The first surface of the substrate is lined with an ink to facilitate the outlining of the treatment field. The second surface is coated with an adhesive layer which is protected by release liner.

Abstract:
A mammography pad for use with a mammography unit for providing comfort to a patient during a mammography examination. The mammography pad includes a flexible substrate configured to overlie a bucky plate, a compressible material and a fastening means. The mammography pad is capable of covering a top and front surface of the compression plate, while the fastening means removably attaches a portion of the mammography pad to the mammography unit. Further, a method for administering a mammography examination with the mammography pad is disclosed by providing a mammography pad, securing the pad to the mammography unit, placing a patient's breast on the mammography pad, and compressing the patient's breast against the mammography pad.
