Abstract:
An on-demand message system includes a profile proxy server and a plurality of message servers coupled to a wireless network for sending messages to mobile users under conditions specified by the users and sellers. Users provide profile information specifying categories and conditions for which they will receive messages. Sellers also provide profile information specifying conditions under which they want messages to be sent. A multicast message is sent and processed by target users in response to a predetermined event, e. g. , location update, conveying information related to a seller for which the target users have expressed an interest in receiving.
Fast Authentication And Access Control System For Mobile Networking
A fast authentication and access control method of authenticating a network access device to a communications network having an access point communicating with a remote authentication (home AAA) server for the network access device. The method includes the step of receiving an access request having an authentication credential from the network access device at the access point. The authentication credential includes a security certificate having a public key for the network access device and an expiration time. The security certificate is signed with a private key for the remote authentication server. The access point locally validates the authentication credential by accessing the public key of the remote authentication server from a local database, and checking the signature and expiration time of the security certificate. If the authentication credential is validated at the access point, the access point grants the network access device conditional access to the network by sending an access granted message to the network access device. The access granted message includes a session key encrypted with a public key for the network access device.

International Classification:

US Classification:

Abstract:
A Virtual Single Account (VSA) system that provides a mobile user with automatic authentication and connection to a remote network via local access networks with a single password, where the local access networks may be independent of the remote network. A mobile user has a single authentication credential for one VSA that is utilized by a VSA client installed on a mobile computing device. The VSA client provides for automatically authenticating and connecting the user's mobile device to a current local access network, and the target remote network such as the user's office network. All authentication credentials are encrypted using a key generated from the user's VSA password that is generated from the user's single password. The VSA client derives the key from the submitted VSA password and decrypts all authentication credentials that are required in order to connect the mobile device to the current local access network and thereafter to the office network.
E-Coupon Service For Location-Aware Mobile Commerce Which Determines Whether To Supply Requested E-Coupons Based On The Number Of Requests Received In A Processing Cycle, And A Threshold Number Of Requests Required To Make Expected Returns From Redeemed Coupons Greater Than Advertising Fees

US Classification:

Abstract:
A conditional e-coupon distribution method distributes e-coupons predefined by sellers to mobile users only if the number of mobile users requesting such e-coupons equals or exceeds a threshold. The method receives a request to browse e-coupons from a mobile user. The method receives the location of the mobile user and determines a plurality of sellers local to the mobile electronic device and a plurality of corresponding e-coupons available from the local sellers. The method receives a request for a particular e-coupon from a seller and authorizes the provision of said e-coupon to the mobile user. At the end of a processing cycle, the mobile user receives the requested e-coupon if all conditions, such as a period of time and threshold, have been met. A computer-usable medium having computer-readable program code embodied therein allows for storage of the method.
System And Method For Providing Access To Multiple User Accounts Via A Common Password
A common password method is disclosed which provides both convenience and security assurance for users who have multiple accounts protected by passwords. According to the present invention, a user only needs to remember a common password to access any of the user's accounts. A designated password for each account is generated by a hash function of the common password and some account-dependent information. The hash value is calculated at the user's computer, and then submitted as a designated password to a server. Thus, each account is protected by the distinct designated password, and the common password is never revealed in an unauthorized manner.

Abstract:
A method of performing receive antenna selection is presented. The method executes a determination operation for a set of receive antennas, determines a maximum result of the determination operation for two of the antennas, eliminates one of the two antennas from the set of antennas, and repeats the determination and elimination process until only a predetermined number of antennas remain in the set. The signals from these remaining antennas are then processed. The present invention reduces receiver complexity and cost.

Abstract:
A network interface driver embodied in a processor readable medium comprising executable program instructions that, when executed by a processor, independently process internetworking protocols for a host computer (or other network access device) with another computer on a remote network. The driver appears to the operating system as a regular network interface driver, but it can support enhanced kernel-level internetworking protocols by using a state machine to generate, drop, and change incoming and outgoing IP packets in a manner transparent to the operating system.
