Abstract:

Apparatus (10) for adjusting and aligning a first, slidable surface (12) in proximate contact with a second, rotating surface (14). Means for urging a lateral edge of the first surface (12) towards and subsequently in contact with the second surface (14) includes a motion transfer system which includes a pivot arm (18,19) driven by a respective rotatable rod-like member (40,42). The rod-like member (40,42), when moved axially, urges the respective pivot arm (18,19) into forced moving contact with an end portion of the first surface (12) until it is aligned with and subsequently in proximate contact with the roller surface (14). Alignment of the doctor blade (12) is achieved by turning a hex nut portion of the rod like member controlling the respective pivot arm until the end portion of the blade is aligned identically with the roller surface (14).

Abstract:

An apparatus for precisely locating and instantaneously securing and releasing a first, stationary surface in proximate contact with a second, movable surface. A portion of the first surface is compressively secured by the apparatus so as to expose a lateral edge of the first surface for contacting the second surface. Means for securing and releasing the first surface is provided to enable a quick and easy adjustment or removal of the first or second surface.

Abstract:

A sheet-inverting mechanism for use in a high-speed copier or printer includes a sheet containment chamber, a drive shaft rotatable in a forward direction, and a sheet-moving driven shaft assembly for moving sheets into and out of the chamber. The mechanism also includes a belt and pulley assembly mounted to one end of the drive shaft for selectively rotating the driven shaft assembly in a first forward direction for moving a sheet in that first direction into the chamber, and a meshing gear assembly mounted to the other end of the drive shaft for selectively rotating the driven shaft assembly in a second and reverse direction opposite to the first forward direction for quickly moving the sheet reversibly in that second direction and out of the chamber.

A high-speed sheet inverter mechanism includes a sheet confinement chamber suitable for confining a first sheet and a second sheet at the same time, and three roll assemblies for feeding sheets into, and discharging sheets from, the chamber. An electrostatographic apparatus for producing fused toner images on receiver sheets includes a heated fusing apparatus and a combination mechanism for cooling as well as turning over receiver sheets coming from the fusing apparatus.
