Philosophy:

It is my aim to slow the progression of kidney disease and to prevent kidney failure when possible. Patients with kidney disease often have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, and working to reduce cardiovascular risk is one of my prime responsibilities. For those who have developed kidney failure, I help patients navigate through the options to choose the most individually appropriate renal replacement therapy: hemodialysis in a clinic, hemodialysis at home, peritoneal dialysis at home, or kidney transplantation. I work closely with kidney transplant recipients to keep their transplanted kidneys working well for as long as possible. I have many patients who received their transplants in the 1970's and 1980's, with a vast majority of them enjoying excellent kidney function. On a practical note, our office telephone is answered by real people, not by computers, so you will never need to navigate an automated phone menu or leave a voice mail. We also have free parking available at our office, a rarity in Northwest DC.
