Abstract:
A rotary-style coating machine of the type capable of applying coatings to various web substrates in the commercial offset web and/or digital web printing industry. The coating machine includes a coating cylinder and a plate cylinder that are rotatably mounted within the machine. The coating cylinder includes a coating sleeve removably mounted on a mandrel, and the plate cylinder includes a plate sleeve removably mounted on another mandrel. The machine further includes a unit for depositing a coating material on the coating sleeve as the coating cylinder is rotated. The plate cylinder is operative to receive the coating material from the coating sleeve. An impression cylinder supports a web substrate that receives the coating material from the plate sleeve.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for performing a variable rotary cutting operation on a web. A desired product length is inputted into a software program that identifies therewith a first of multiple cassettes that are interchangeably installable in a cutting apparatus. Each cassette includes a knife cylinder having multiple knife holders mounted thereto in which multiple knives are installed. The software program further identifies a number of knife holders and a rotational speed for the knife cylinder that differs from the speed of the web and achieves the desired product length. The first cassette is installed in the cutting apparatus and the web is fed through a variable repeat printer and thereafter through the first cassette. The variable repeat printer prints images on the web and the knife cylinder is rotated at the rotational speed identified by the software program to produce the desired product length.
System And Method For Distributed Musician Synchronized Performances
A computerized method is provided that enables an interactive multimedia session between a group of geographically distributed musicians. The method includes song arrangements for the interactive multimedia session being specified as a sequence of song parts to be played or sung by each of the participating geographically distributed musicians. Each musician performance is automatically detected on an instrument track along with audio and video for each musician performance on any song part. The timing for each musician performance is automatically captured by the system. The captured performances are transmitted to the musicians participating in a same session of the geographically distributed musicians to produce the effect of playing with other musicians live in the interactive multimedia session. A computer-implemented system and a computer program product stored on a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium for practice of the method are also provided.
