A track mounting system for supporting equipment, such as a dental light, includes a pan-shaped carriage which is suspended from the track mounting system and to which the light or other equipment is attached. The track mounting system includes a pair of spaced, parallel tracks which are engaged by rollers rotatably mounted on inner walls of the carriage. At least one of the rollers is formed from a relatively hard material and is concave to mate with the complementary surface on one of the tracks to provide resistance against side loads. Other rollers are formed from a relatively soft material and are convex to provide a light frictional resistance to movement of the carriage along the tracks that inhibits drift, over-travel and other inadvertent movement of the carriage, while reducing noise.

Abstract:
An external fixation system for connecting one or more bone segments together to facilitate healing of bone. The system may include one or more rings and/or ring segments. One or more linear distractors and/or angular distractors may connect the rings to each other so as to allow for distraction and/or reduction/compression of a bone. Linear distractors may enable an operator to move the rings towards and away from each other, while angular distractors may enable an operator to angle the rings relative to each other. In an embodiment using angular distractors, one or more angular separation assemblies may be positioned between the rings. These separation assemblies may have joints which may two portions which may be angled relative to each other and connected directly or indirectly to the rings. Various fasteners (e. g. , nuts) and/or tightening members may configured for quick movement along and selective tightening to various components.

Abstract:
A cylindrical shaft may be gripped with an apparatus including a housing having an axis and an inner surface with multiple asymmetric cam surfaces, a proximal end including a means to rotate the housing, and a distal end having an opening configured to receive the cylindrical shaft, at least two cylindrical gripping members configured to grip the cylindrical shaft, where each cylindrical gripping member contacts a corresponding asymmetric cam surface at a first rest position, and a rotatable frame which holds each pair of cylindrical gripping members at a fixed angular orientation relative to each other. The rotatable frame is configured to rotate upon insertion of the cylindrical shaft into a space defined by the gripping members so that each gripping member moves away from the axis of the housing along a first portion of the corresponding asymmetric cam surface. After insertion of the cylindrical shaft, the housing is configured to rotate so as to cause each gripping member to move toward the axis of the housing along the corresponding asymmetric cam surface.

Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for producing a treatment plan to control manipulation of a fixation apparatus including a first element and a second ring and struts to correct an anatomical structure deformity of first and second anatomical structure segments, including: receiving, using one or more graphical user interfaces of a computing system, configuration information associated with the fixation apparatus, the configuration information comprising one or more geometric characteristics of one or more elements of the fixation apparatus and ring deformation information; receiving, by the computing system, images of the fixation apparatus and the first and the second anatomical structure segments attached thereto; determining, by the computing system, based on the configuration information and the received images, positions and orientations of the first and the second anatomical structure segments in three-dimensional space relative to the fixation apparatus; determining the hole locations of the first element based upon the deformation information; determining, by the computing system, manipulations to the fixation apparatus for correction of the anatomical structure deformity, the manipulations comprising adjustments to the struts based upon the determined hole location of the first element; and providing, by the computing system, to one or more users, indications of the manipulations to the fixation apparatus.

Abstract:
A polyaxial external fixation strut including a strut member and a first ball joint coupled to an end portion of the strut member. The first ball joint includes a first ball joint body and a first ball member. The first ball member is rotatably coupled to the first ball joint body to allow for variable angle adjustable positioning of the first ball member within the first ball joint body. The first ball joint additionally includes a friction member. The friction member is configured to create friction between the first ball member and the first ball joint body.

Abstract:
A plate for treating a bone includes a plate body extending along a longitudinal axis from a first end to a second end and being sized, shaped and contoured to be positioned along a desired surface of a bone. The plate also includes a slotted opening extending through the plate body and defined by a first portion sized and shaped to permit a head portion of a bone fixation element fixed to the bone to be passed therethrough and a second elongated portion extending along the longitudinal axis from the first portion in communication with the first portion, the second portion sized to prevent the head portion of the bone fixation element from being passed therethrough so that, when the head portion of the bone fixation element is received through the first portion, the plate is slidable relative thereto such that the second portion engages the head portion of the bone fixation element.
