Abstract:

Various embodiments of methods and systems for dynamically adjusting a command input for controlling operating frequency settings to one or more processing components are disclosed. Because a command input to a dynamic clock and voltage scaling module may dictate that operating frequency levels are unnecessarily high when a stable workload is being processed (i.e. a workload that has historically exhibited a low risk of significant fluctuation in processing capacity requirements), embodiments of a system or method for headroom adjustment and processing level optimization (“HAPLO”) may adjust the command input so that the operating frequency is optimized to a lower frequency without sacrificing delivery of an acceptable quality of service (“QoS”) to a user. Similarly, other HAPLO systems or methods may use recognition that a workload has increased from a stable level to adjust the command input such that the operating frequency is increased and a QoS level recovered or maintained.
