Abstract:
A biofiltration system for treating biodegradable airborne contaminants such as VOCS includes a bio-reactor chamber with a sealed housing, and a heater for maintaining a temperature within the chamber. Several fabric-based bio-reactor panels are mounted within the chamber and are kept in a dampened state by means of an applicator system which applies a temperature-controlled liquid mixture containing microbes and nutrients to the bio-reactor panels. An air handling system moves air laden with biodegradable contaminants through the chamber and over the surfaces of the bio-reactor panels.

Abstract:
A method for depositing a metal onto a substrate including the steps of providing a plating bath including ions of the metal, positioning the substrate in the plating bath, positioning at least one counter electrode in the plating bath, performing a first electrolytic process for a predetermined first period of time, performing a second electrolytic process for a predetermined second period of time and looping between the first and second electrolytic processes to form a coating of the metal on the substrate.

Abstract:
An earth contamination site groundwater testing well having a borehole which passes though subsurface soil zones of interest is provided with a probe assembly that is installed in the borehole, that has a core stem which carries spaced-apart flexible disc seals that divide the borehole into different borehole zones that correspond to the subsurface soil zones of interest, and that includes microporous sampler points in the different borehole zones. The groundwater testing well borehole may be formed with a well casing that is afterwards removed while retaining the probe assembly in position.
A heating fuel comprising a combustible material which can flow when heat is applied, with a wick covering the combustible material to assist and control combustion. The fuel can be made from materials found in ordinary household waste, using newspaper for the wick and polyethylene plastic for the combustible material. The fuel can be conveniently used if made in the form of approximately cylindrical logs, but with the diameters near the ends of the logs greater than the diameter near the middle, to provide air gaps when the logs are stacked. The combustible material can be made of plastic extruded into rods and embedded in a mass of dried pulped newspaper, with the outer surface of the mass having the desired log shape.
